Liskeard

Liskeard is an ancient stannary and market town in South East Cornwall.

Culturally it has four notable centres: Stuart House, where King Charles 1 once stayed, is now a craft and heritage centre; Liskerrett Community Centre, based in Varley Lane, once a school and now a wonderful mix of social and community clubs, culture events, was home to Mazed. Liskeard Museum houses the window into the town’s mining past, with exhibitions and archives and books of Liskeard by Brian Oldham, and the Library with a coffee shop hosts both performing poets and coders.

The cattle market is gone, and the shops are changeable; the longstanding remainers are Goldsworthy's hardware shop, Beddoe's greengrocers, Barnecutt's bakery, many charity shops, and the railway station. Tucked away is Pipe Well, an unusual holy well where once healing water flowed from four lead spouts.
