Dragons

Dragons lurk on the roll of the surf, in the fire of the sunset, and deep in murky pits.  Imagine the incredible majestic beauty of Cornwall and her coast of roaring seas and you might begin to imagine the magnificence of her dragons.

Cornish dragons are coastal creatures, rising from the rocky shoreline, returning to the wild waves. They cause widespread terror in the peninsular, stealing sheep and eating men. They are defeated in fierce battles or gently tamed by Celtic saints. Petroc was visited by a dragon distressed by a splinter in his eye. The dragon lowered his huge head toward the saint who gently removed the thorn and led the dragon to the sea.

There is always the possibility that this year might be a dragon year in Cornwall, when the dragon rises from the serpentine rocks where it sleeps at the Lizard and terrorises the skies with its huge stunning firey wings
